J-ROD is the 2022 National (NZ) Mens Over 30s Champion.

J-ROD rides the ELITE, DCE and MULTI in PU construction.

Hi, my name is J-ROD and I’m from Taranaki, NZ.

I started surfing when I was 14 years old.

I’m a goofy footer.

My magic stick during 2025 was a DCE 5’9″ x 18 25/32″ x 2 1/2″ 28.15L. I’m 157cm and 73kg.

My training grounds are Stent Rd, Rocky Pt, Back Beach and Fitzroy.

My favourite wave is Macaronis in the Mentawais.

My favourite manoeuvres are backhand verts, forehand rail gouges, laybacks and deep forehand barrels.

My favourite foods are my amazing porridge mixes and Lexy’s Kitchen meals.

My favourite pasttime, after surfing, is in fact a lot of things: mountain biking.

My philosophy on life is “Have a good balance, keep healthy and fit to feel your best, and remember – you only live once.

I couldn’t live without my girlfriend, pets, family and friends.

My inspirations are my older friends who are still fit, healthy, surfing good and living good lives; as well as the young local hot shot surfers that keep me on my toes and push me to keep the highest level of surfing I can do.

My career highlights include:
